Back Home: Area man returns to Iowa after decades

Even for December, the morning was warm. As the dawn broke, the Hawaiian sun provided a warmth that would have been out of place back in the Midwest.

Back in 1941, Wesley Brown, Fireman 1st Class, would have been enjoying the respite from the cold as he began the day amid the men at Pearl Harbor.

Though he would never see another, Brown would not have to face a chill Iowa winter again.
