BC council approves fireworks ordinance

The Battle Creek City Council approved the fireworks ordinance during its meeting Nov. 20.

Resolution 2017-11-20 was approved, which introduces Ordinance 2017-2 that limits the days and places of fireworks within the City of Battle Creek.  The council waived the second and third readings to the ordinance which is effective following publication.  A restriction on the dates of use has been shortened to June 24 – July 8 and Dec. 10 – Jan. 3 during times designated by the state code. No person may use or explode consumer fireworks or display fireworks on any city property with the exception of the annual fireworks display by the Battle Creek Fire Department trained members only.
