Falcon boys tame Panthers with strong third quarter

A 21 to eight scoring run in the third quarter led the OABCIG boys to a 68-54 basketball victory over Western Valley Conference rival Kingsley-Pierson Friday in Ida Grove. Both clubs are considered to be among the top teams in the WVC.

“Overall, I was pretty happy,” noted coach Steve Brown. “With a first game you always worry about the first game jitters and how the kids will react to playing in front of a crowd. And you’re playing against better competition than you face in practice.

“I thought we executed pretty well both offensively and defensively. A majority of the time we were where we were suppose to be. K-P has a nice club and we did a lot of good things against them.”
