Falcon hoop club advances to district final

OABCIG defeated Carroll Kuemper 77-65 in a boys’ class 2A district semifinal basketball game in Ida Grove Friday.

The victory advanced the Falcons, 17-4, along the tournament trail where they played Alta-Aurelia in the district final in Cherokee Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. The winner will play in the substate game at Sioux City East High School this Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.

OABCIG 77, CK 65

After a back and forth first half a change in the Falcons’ offense led OABCIG to a 12-point win over Carroll Kuemper.

The Knights owned a 21-17 lead after one quarter and were up 28-20 with 4:29 to go in the second quarter due in part to the three-point shooting of Ben Brincks. Brincks connected on four three-pointers early in the game.

After trailing by eight points, the Falcons went on a 9-0 run over the next two minutes to grab a 29-28 lead at 2:30 of the second quarter. The run included five made free throws. Kuemper held a 33-31 advantage at halftime.
