Falcons come up short in state tourney bid

Rock Valley kept the OABCIG boys basketball team from the state tournament Feb. 25 with a 61-46 victory in a class 2A substate game in Le Mars. The win propelled the Rockets to the state tournament, which got underway Monday, March 4.

“When you look at the stat line everything is pretty even except the three point shooting,” noted Falcon coach Steve Brown. “They have five good athletes on the outside and three of them can knockdown the three. They ran us through several screens with one of their shooters and he was able to knock them down.”

Rock Valley won by 15 points, which equates to their eight to three advantage in three point shots. Overall they had five more field goals (20 to 15) and both teams were 13 of 16 from the free throw line.
