Ida Grove City Council to hire rec center director, water supervisor

The Ida Grove City met in special session June 24 to discuss the process of replacing Chelsea Gross as rec center director. A council subcommittee met June 22 to discuss the planned retirement of Lon Schluter, water supervisor.
Gross notified the city she will resign effective July 7. The council reviewed the rec center director’s job description. The opening and application information will be published in the Courier along with the city’s website and Facebook page and on the Iowa Parks and Rec Association webpage.
City Clerk Heather Sweeden noted Gross is the city’s only certified pool operator (CPO). If a CPO is not in place when Gross resigns the city pool will have to shutdown. After discussing some options the council opted to send Dawn Schreiber, rec center deputy director, and Kris Taylor of the city crew to a two-day CPO class. The classes and certification process should be completed prior to Gross leaving her post.
