Last-second shot keeps Falcon boys from WVC tourney title

Lawton-Bronson scored on a two-point bucket in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter to win the boys’ Western Valley Conference tournament championship game in Sloan Saturday.

After trailing for most of the game, OABCIG got the lead back with about one minute to play and were up 59-58 with seven seconds to play. In the closing seconds of the game a L-B guard dribbled the ball the length of the court and got off a running shot at the buzzer to win the game 60-59.

“It was a tough loss,” noted coach Steve Brown. “One of our major goals this season was to win both the regular season conference championship and the conference tournament championship. We won the regular season championship and then to come up short (of the tournament title) and the way that it happened really hurts.”
