Late free throws help Raptors subdue Westwood

Ridge View overcame a slow start and hit some key free throws in the final minutes of play to subdue conference foe Westwood 41-38 in a boys’ game in Sloan Friday.

Westwood had a 12 to 15 point lead in the first half before Ridge View steadied its ship in the second half. Westwood was up 15-5 after one quarter and 22-12 at halftime.

Raptor coach Mike Smith attributed much of his club’s early scoring drought to poor shooting.

“We struggled to start the game and Westwood came out and played well and shot the ball well,” noted Smith. “We struggled shooting the ball from the outside in the first half, but in the second half those shots started to fall."
