Lon Schluter retires from Ida Grove maintenance crew

Retirement: Lon Schluter retired from the Ida Grove maintenance crew at the end of December after 34 years of service. Members of the city staff gathered recently to present Schluter with a plaque in recognition of his service to the city. The plaque reads “Thank You, in grateful recognition of your hard work and dedication to the public works department. Lon Schluter recognized for 34 years of outstanding service to the City of Ida Grove.” Schluter began working for the city in 1986 as a general maintenance worker. In 1992, he took over as water superintendent. On hand for the presentation were, front from left, Bob Lorenzen, Kelly Young and Heather Sweeden. Back from left, Kris Taylor, Mayor Devlun Whiteing, Schluter, Gerrod Sholty and Lucas Collins. Collins will serve as  water superintendent until Schluter’s replacement is hired.
