Marijuana, a complicated issue

Ben Cort of Colorado, a member of the board of directors of Project SAM (Smart Approaches to Marijuana), brought his message about the emergence of marijuana into a multi-billion dollar industry that is a greater threat to the public, especially younger people, than at any time in the past to Ida County Tuesday, Sept. 25. While marijuana is harmful, Cort noted it could be beneficial to some people.

Cort met with Ridge View High School students during the school day before speaking at a public meeting in Holstein, sponsored by the Cherokee/Ida County Alliance for Drug Endangered Children.

Cort opened his public meeting presentation byexplaining drug policy is complicated. He said, since Colorado legalized marijuana in 2012, the state has “made serious mistakes in implementing and enforcing its marijuana laws.”
