Nine OABCIG large group speech acts earn one ratings at state contest

OABCIG High School had nine of its 11 large group speech acts earn one ratings at State Large Group Speech Contest Saturday, Feb. 6, at OABCIG High School. Each speech act receives ratings from three judges. A straight rating means all three judges voted the same way. A mixed rating means the judges voted two to one.

Groups with straight ones have the opportunity of being selected for All State Large Group. Because of the limitations due to COVID-19 and venues across the state, there will not be in-person or virtual performances this year. Medals, certificates and other All-State materials will be sent to the schools. There will be All-State apparel for students and groups to purchase as well as the All-State Banner for schools. All State Large Group Speech results will be posted on the Iowa High School Speech Association webpage after 4 p.m. Feb. 17.
