OABCIG athletes qualify for state track and field meet

OABCIG qualified 16 events for the class 2A state track and field meet this week. Both the OABCIG boys and girls made it to state by placing first or second at the class 2A state qualifying meet in Ida Grove Friday, May 10, or by having one of the next best eight times or distances statewide.

The co-ed state track and field meet will be held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. The meet starts this Thursday and runs through Saturday.

On a team basis, the Falcon girls placed second out of 12 teams with 96 points. Treynor was first with 110 points.

The Falcon boys placed fourth with 85 points. South Central Calhoun won the team title with 133 points.

Girls

OABCIG will compete in eight girls’ events at the class 2A state track meet. Two of the events, 4x100 and 100-meter dash, had the fastest qualifying times in the state in class 2A. Sophomore Anna Winterrowd will be entered in four of the events.

Boys

The Falcons scored 85 team points to place fourth out 12 teams. South Central Calhoun was first with 133 points.

OABCIG will compete in eight events at the class 2A state track meet. Sophomore Cooper DeJean will be part of four of those events.
