Primary election has low turnout

The Ida County June 5 primary election had a low turnout, according to unofficial results. Results showed 11.53 percent, or 564 of Ida County’s 4,892 registered voters, went to the polls. The Ida County Board of Supervisors was to canvass the election June 12.

Local Republican primary results were: district three supervisor Rhett Leonard, 100 votes; county treasurer Traci Riessen, 353 votes, and county recorder Julie Phillips, 357 votes. Incumbent Democratic Ida County Attorney Meghann Whitmer received 156 votes.
