Woodbury girls, Westwood boys win WVC golf titles

The Woodbury Central girls and Westwood boys won the Western Valley Conference regular season golf championships April 29. The fifth tournaments of the season marked the end of the regular season tournament series.

OABCIG was third in the final girls’ standings and fourth in the final boys’ standings. Ridge View was fifth in the boys’ standings and sixth in the girls’ standings. The top five teams from the boys’ and girls’ regular season standings played Tuesday, May 7, in Le Mars to compete for the overall championships.

At the conclusion of the April 29 tournament, all-conference golf teams were announced. All conference designation is based on a golfer’s total score from the five tournaments.

On the boys’ side, Landon Ray and Reed Godbersen of OABCIG made first team all-conference. Ridge View didn’t have any first or second team all-conference golfers.

Local golfers making the girls’ first team all-conference list were OABCIG’s Lauren Schwade and Ridge View’s Kennedy Mason and Viv Leonard. OABCIG’s Ellie Diersen and Carly Murphy made the second team.
