Betty Jensen

1934 – 2025

SPIRIT LAKE - It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Betty Jane Jensen on Jan. 5, 2025 at the age of 90 years. A funeral service for Betty Jane Jensen, 90, of Spirit Lake, and formerly of Battle Creek, will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Battle Creek. Memorials in memory of Betty can be sent to: Camp Okoboji, 1531 Edgewood Drive, Milford, Iowa 51351.

Betty attended country school at Danbury and completed high school in Anthon, graduating in 1952. Right out of high school, she went to flight school in Sioux City, then did clerical work at the Pontiac Car Dealership in Cherokee.

Betty was united in marriage to Everett Jensen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek on Oct. 8, 1958. Four children were born to this union. After she married Everett, they owned Jensen’s Feed & Implement where she was the office manager. Betty and Everett moved to the Homestead Coop in Spirit Lake in 1996 and joined Immanuel Lutheran Church.

She was very strong in her faith and enjoyed going to Bible study groups. She was an active member of the LWML, Lamplighters, Junior Fellowship and taught Sunday School and VBS. If she couldn’t make it to church, she would watch the livestream.

Betty was a quiet soul but left a big impact on those she met. In her free time, she loved spending it with her family and friends. One could always find her putting together puzzles, playing cards, word searches or joining friends for coffee. She loved reading, watching sports and doing crafts.

Her greatest joys and accomplishments were the love of her husband and the gift of being a mom to Monte, Ranae, Sherry and Michelle. When her kids were younger, she was their best cheerleader whether playing sports or other activities.

Left behind to miss her dearly are her children and spouses, Monte Jensen and his children, Jessica and Matt, Sherry (Jensen) and Bob Testin and their children, Alex, Taylar and Kelly, Michelle (Jensen) and Todd Boerner and their children, Logan and Ethan; her youngest brother, Bobby and Diane Albers; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Meinhard (Mike) and Eva Albers; husband, Everett; infant daughter, Ranae; siblings, Richard, Donald and Shirley.

Turner Jenness Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
