HOLSTEIN - Clara A. Kistenmacher, 85, of Holstein, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center of Cherokee. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with the Pastor Del Olivier officiating. Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein is in charge of the arrangements.

Clara Ann (Benson) Kistenmacher was born Jan. 27, 1939 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Emery Jack and Ruth (Luthi) Benson. Clara lived in Melbourne, Iowa until she was six and they moved to Cherokee. She graduated in 1959. In the fall, following graduation, she met Lauren Kistenmacher and they were married Dec. 6, 1959. To this marriage one child was born, Shaun Lauren.

She worked on the farm where the farm work was first with her family. She did almost every kind of work that was on the farm, especially watching the baby pigs and calves grow up. She also enjoyed family get-togethers and sports on television.

She will be remembered by her son, Shaun; granddaughter, Shanade (Brandon) Stevenson; great-grandchildren, Trinity, Indy and Ayrton; sister-in-law, Ruth Bergmann and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lauren; parents; brothers, Walter Jerry, and Larry William; infant brother, Raymond; sister, Mary Ellen Terry; brothers and sister-in-law, Robert Bergmann, Ralph and Delores Todd and Don Terry; nephew, John Todd and several members of the extended family.
