O-A/BC-IG's baseball team won three games in three tries last week.
The Falcons have picked up victories in nine of their last 10 games to push the team's record to 15-10 overall and to 11-7 in the conference.
O-A/BC-IG 7, River Valley 1
O-A/BC-IG downed River Valley in conference action in Correctionville June 24 behind the two-hit pitching of Parker Rasmussen.
The Falcons built a 7-0 lead after four innings, allowing only a lone River Valley run in the fifth inning. Coach Dan Dotzler noted his club bunched its hits together over the second, third and fourth innings which resulted in the seven runs.
River Valley loaded the bases in the seventh inning with no outs after a pair of walks and a hit; however, the next batter grounded to Tanner Hemer who started a five to two to three double play that took any steam out of the River Valley threat.
"I guess the good news about getting seven hits is we put them together to maximize our run potential," said Dotzler. "While it was good to bunch the hits together over that three inning stretch, we were pretty quiet offensively the rest of the innings. We struck out six times, which is more than I would like to see this time of the year."
