Curtis Sahl

IDA GROVE – Services for Curt Sahl, 62, of Ida Grove will be at 11 a.m., with visitation 9-11 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. The Rev. Richard A. Salcido will officiate. Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home in Ida Grove is in charge of arrangements. 

He died July 21, 2021, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Curt Sahl, son of Elmer and Ruby (Christiansen) Sahl, was born March 2, 1959, in Ida Grove. He was a lifetime resident of Ida Grove, where he graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1977.

Curt then began his construction career with Sheer Construction. He met the love of his life, Kim Bauer, and they married May 7, 1982, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove. They made their home in Ida Grove and were blessed with two children, Sarah and C. J.

In 1986, Curt began his career with Godbersen-Smith Construction and remained with the company for over 35 years, until the present time. He had a passion for wildlife and conservation.

He was a member of Pheasants Forever, National Wild Turkey Federation and White Tails Unlimited. He enjoyed fishing excursions to Canada, North and South Dakota, and the Lake of the Woods in Minnesota.

He also enjoyed hunting, spending time with family and friends, playing cards, board games, reading and watching NASCAR. He was an avid Iowa sports fan. Curt was a devoted husband, father, brother and a loyal friend to many.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 39 years, Kim Sahl of Ida Grove; and his children: Sarah Sahl of Ankeny and C. J. Sahl of Ida Grove.

Also surviving are his siblings: Vicki (Darrell) Madsen of Columbia, Mo.; Kristine (Michael) Drouilhet of Carlsbad, Calif.; Alan (Jami) Sahl of Tualatin, Ore.; and Brian (Lesa) Sahl of Arthur; nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ruby Sahl.
