Ferrell “Dee” Johnson

ODEBOLT – Graveside services for Ferrell “Dee” Johnson, 82, of Odebolt will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the Odebolt Cemetery in Odebolt. The Rev. Ken Miller will officiate.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are encouraged. Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home in Odebolt is in charge of arrangements.

He died April 25, 2021, at Odebolt Specialty Care in Odebolt.

Ferrell “Dee” Johnson, son of Byrl and Shirley (Cole) Johnson, was born Feb. 16, 1939, in Nebraska. He was raised in the Moorhead area and attended country school through the eighth grade. When finished with schooling, he began work as a farmhand.

Dee worked for numerous farmers. Eventually, he moved to the Ida Grove and Odebolt area and worked as a farmhand for Carl Hoffman and Dennis Railsback. He enjoyed gardening, as well as collecting toy tractors and machinery.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Dale Johnson Sr. of Denison; a sister, Bernice Murr of Odebolt; a stepbrother, Walter Marrow of Sioux City; a stepsister, Artie Peters of Sparks, Nev.; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Byrl and Shirley Johnson; four brothers: Clancy Johnson, Richard Johnson, Edison Johnson and Lyle Marrow; seven sisters: Wilma Madson, Barbara Stan, Dorothy Kyle, Rosemary Lesko, Mattie Williams, LaVon Marrow and Mona Williamson; a brother-in-law, Ronald Murr; a nephew, Doug Vitzosky; and a niece, Darla Johnson.
