Julia Witters

FONDA – Services for Julia Lynn Witters, 64, of Fonda (formerly of Ida Grove) will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, at United Methodist Church in Ida Grove. The Rev. Luann Benge will officiate. Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home in Ida Grove is in charge of arrangements.

Julia was laid to rest Dec. 30, 2020, at the Ida Grove Cemetery at Ida Grove, alongside her parents and paternal grandparents.

She died Dec. 25, 2020, at Fonda Specialty Care in Fonda.

Julia Lynn Witters, daughter of George W. and Harriet R. (Leachman) Witters, was born April 1, 1956, in Ida Grove. She was raised in Ida Grove and graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1974.

She attended Iowa State University, graduating cum laude with a degree in education. She then worked as a teacher.

Julia loved arts, crafts and baking. She was especially talented in those pursuits. She liked to travel, especially to Colorado. She was a lifelong member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Order of Eastern Star.

Julia lived her final years at Fonda Specialty Care in Fonda. Throughout those years, she continued to maintain her good sense of humor and her strength in the face of many medical challenges.

Julia is survived by her sister, Deborah McKinnie (Mitch) of DelMar, Calif.; a brother, George R. Witters (Cindy) of Boulder, Colo.; a brother, Timothy P. Witters of Tulsa, Okla.; and a sister, Elizabeth Schultz (Mark) of Parker, Colo.

She is also survived by her niece, Meghan Augustine of San Diego, Calif.; a nephew, George Aaron Witters of Lafayette, Colo.; and a niece, Katie Witters of Broomfield, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Harriet Witters; her paternal grandparents, George S. and Beulah Witters; her maternal grandparents, Robert C. and Margaret Leachman; a paternal aunt, Muriel Holcomb; two maternal uncles, Robert Leachman and Mark C. Leachman; a maternal aunt, Barbara Leachman; and her maternal cousins, James Leachman and Andrea Leachman.
