Myrwyn Gail Brown

ROCHESTER, MINN. - Services for Myrwyn Gail Brown, 94, of Rochester, Minn., will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial with military honors will be in Preston State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minn. Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home in Rochester, Minn., is in charge of arrangements.

He died Aug. 30, 2021, at Rochester Health Services East in Rochester, Minn.

Myrwyn was born April 3, 1927, to Cleo and Winifred (Boyer) Brown in Ida Grove. He grew up in the Ida Grove area, along with five brothers and three sisters, and also spent time in northern Minnesota.

Myrwyn attended school until the eighth grade and then began working. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1946.

On Feb. 23, 1952, he married Jane Kiesel and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage. Myrwyn worked as a lineman for Chicago Great Northwestern Railroad until he began working as construction foreman for a cable company. There, he remained through nine name changes, starting with Rochester Video.

Myrwyn enjoyed watching sports, growing tomatoes and peppers, and playing cards, especially with his grandchildren. He was a Boy Scout leader and coached Little League baseball for many years in Rochester, Minn.

He is survived by five children: four sons: Steven (Edie) Brown, Greg (Shirley) Brown and Brian Brown, all of Rochester, Minn., and Brent (Kate) Brown of Mankato, Minn.; a daughter, Deb (Dan) Dye of Eldora; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Myrwyn was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane; three sisters; and five brothers.
