Wayne “Haystack” Schoer

HOLSTEIN – Services for Wayne “Haystack” Schoer, 71, of Holstein will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Holstein.

The Rev. Bob Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in the Holstein Cemetery at Holstein.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m., Saturday, May 29, at Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Holstein. Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Holstein is in charge of arrangements.

He died May 24, 2021.

Wayne W. “Haystack” Schoer was born Dec. 7, 1949, to Henry and Gladys (Ell) Schoer in Cherokee. He graduated from Holstein High School and then earned an associate’s degree from Iowa State.

Haystack married Marlo Johnson July 20, 1974, in Holstein. To this union, three children were born: Jacob, Joshua and Melissa. They made their home in Holstein.

He held many jobs through the years: Conover and Bauer Oil Co., Bagenstos Food Locker, farming, GOMACO and his pride and joy, S&S Sales.

Haystack was an Allis Chalmers enthusiast and collector. He was the guy that everyone could count on and he would help anyone in need. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Holstein.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Marlo; his sons, Jacob Schoer of Ames and Joshua Schoer of Holstein; and a daughter, Melissa (Noah) Ebert of Quimby.

Also surviving are his siblings: Denise, Tim and Teresa, all of Ida Grove; Diane (Mitch) Sabin of Le Mars and Travis Schoer of Holstein; a sister-in-law, Peg Schoer of Marshalltown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gladys; his parents-in-law, Willis and Marian Johnson; and a brother, Brad Schoer.
