The Western Valley Conference has announced its all-conference teams for softball and baseball. In softball, Ridge View senior Tatum Shepherd and junior Emma Mentzer were named to the First Team.
The OABCIG baseball squad came within one win of a berth in the Class 2A state tournament, as the Falcons took on Chariton (23-4) Tuesday night in Boone.
The OABCIG baseball squad hosted Carroll Kuemper in a Class 2A district championship game on Saturday night. The Falcons drew first blood, scoring four in the second inning for an early 4-0 advantage. The Knights battled back, plating a pair of runs to cut the lead in half at 4-2.
The crowd that turned out for Tuesday night’s Class 2A playoff matchup between OABCIG and Southeast Valley sure got their money’s worth. Before the night was over, they would witness a back-and-forth affair that would end with a bases loaded walk-off hit.
The Ridge View softball squad saw its season come to an end on Friday night at Audubon, as the Wheelers blanked the Raptors 6-0. Audubon came into the contest with an impressive 25-4 record, while Ridge View sported a solid 19-11 mark.
The OABCIG softball season came to an end on Thursday night, with a 9-1 loss at Eagle Grove in the Class 3A playoffs. Most of the damage was done in the first inning, as the Eagles exploded for seven runs and grabbed an early 7-0 lead.
The Ridge View baseball squad traveled to Council Bluffs on Tuesday, to take on the Treynor Cardinals in a Class 2A playoff matchup held at the Iowa Western Community College ballfield.
