Betty J. Dahl, the daughter of Loren Emil and Florence Darlene (Schmidt) Mildenstein, was born on March 24, 1957, in Cherokee. She grew up in Ida Grove, where she received her education in the Ida Grove Community School District.

Throughout her life, Betty held various positions in the retail industry before embarking on a career as an over-the-road truck driver. As part of a team-hauling operation, she traveled coast to coast, experiencing the open road and the many places her journeys took her. Betty made her home in Battle Creek for many years before health challenges prompted her to relocate to Sioux City.

In her quieter moments, Betty found joy in baking, cooking, sewing, and crafting, using her creativity to make things with her own hands. Above all, she treasured the time spent visiting with family, sharing conversations, laughter, and cherished memories. It was these simple pleasures and meaningful connections that brought warmth and happiness to her life.

Survivors include her brothers, Randy (Cindy) Mildenstein of Ida Grove, and David (Melissa) Mildenstein of Troy, AL; nieces: Amy (Jeremy) Kuperus and Tammie (fiancé Eric Neal) Mildenstein; nephew, Andy (Amanda) Mildenstein; great nephews: Kaden, Kolten, Keaton, and Kaiser Mildenstein; and extended family.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Florence Mildenstein; maternal grandparents, Herman and Hilda Schmidt; paternal grandparents, Emil and Maggie Mildenstein; and brother, Louis Mildenstein.
