1943 – 2025

ANKENY - A celebration of life will be March 28, 2025, 1-3 p.m. at Connect 55, 1225 SW 28th St. in Ankeny, Iowa for Ernest C. Bugge, Jr., 81, of Ankeny, formerly of Ida Grove. A eulogy will begin at 1:30 p.m. by Rev. Neil Wehmas.

Ernie passed away Feb. 16, 2025 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines surrounded by loved ones. He was born June 23, 1943 to Ernest and Leah (Pfleeger) Bugge, Sr. in Ida Grove. Ernie was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. He attended school in Ida Grove, graduating with the Ida Grove High School Class of 1961.

Ernie married Marcene (Marcy) Bruns on Jan. 10, 1966 in Ida Grove. They were blessed with one daughter, Lisa Kaye, in 1970. He managed several grocery stores during his lifetime, transitioning to a support manager position at Walmart in 1998. Ernie retired in 2010.

Ernie enjoyed Bible study, machine embroidery, card clubs, bingo and eating out with his family. He loved his family and cherished time spent with his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, as well as his granddog Sunnie. Ernie will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Marcy Bugge of Ankeny, his daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Brad Wolterman of Polk City, granddaughter Kate Leah Wolterman of Polk City, sister-in-law Sally (Gene) Bugge of Council Bluffs, and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Gene Bugge, Lee (and Helen) Bugge, and Alice (and Larry) Bohlmann.
