1944 – 2024

 

QUIMBY - Gerald E. Clark, 79, formerly of Battle Creek, and originally of Quimby, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Mike Agnew will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 10 a.m. until service time at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee is assisting the family with arrangements. Gerald E. Clark was born Dec. 19, 1944 in Cherokee. He was the youngest of six siblings of George Clark and Dola Wymore Clark. He was raised on an acreage near Quimby and graduated from Quimby High School.

After high school, he moved to Storm Lake, where he met Carol Sue Smith. The two were united in marriage on April 15th, 1967 in Battle Creek. Gerald and Carol had two sons, Jay and David, and moved to Hampton and Davenport before residing in Battle Creek. He worked as an over the road truck driver for many years before going to work at GOMACO Corp as a field service technician. While working at GOMACO, he traveled all over the world diagnosing and repairing paving equipment. After leaving GOMACO, he went to work repairing construction equipment in the field for several contractors and distributors including Irving F. Jensen, Cedar Valley Corp., RMS and DMI.

After Jerry’s retirement, he spent much of his time fishing for walleye at Lake Francis Case at his summer residence near Platte, South Dakota with his son David. In the fall, he would pack up and move to his winter residence near Brookeland, Texas to spend time with friends and then move back to South Dakota each spring.

 Jerry was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers Charles, Alan, George Jr., Ronald and a sister Marie O’Dell.

He is survived by his two sons, Jay and his wife Sabrina of Onawa, and Gerald D. Clark and fiance Nancy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandchildren, Katie and Matt Redmond of Castana, and Josh Clark and Emilee of Sergeant Bluff; 4 great grandchildren Audrey and Matt Redmond and Carter and Chloe Clark; sisters-in-law Janice and Larry Hall of Belton, Missouri, and Karen and Gary Sawin of Oto; also many nieces, nephews and his friends in South Dakota and Texas.
