Robert “Bob” Louis Daiker, the son of Walter and Inez (Knobbe) Daiker, was born on April 27, 1958, in Ida Grove. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bob received his education at Ida Grove High School graduating with the class of 1976.

After high school, Bob began working at Midwest Industries as a welder. He eventually moved into scheduling, then managing inventory just to name a few of the departments he worked in during his 30 plus year career there. While working at Midwest, Bob continued his education at Bellevue University and received his B.A. in Leadership. In 2009, Bob went to work at Rembrandt Foods as a Production Scheduling Manager. Due to health reasons, he retired in 2020.

From his first marriage in 1980, Bob was blessed with two children: Brandon and Candace. On May 24, 1997, Bob married the love of his life, Barbara (Winter) Thompson. His family grew to include her children Zachary and Catlin. The family made their home in Odebolt, and became members of Faith Lutheran Church.

Bob led a life of service and was active in the communities in which he lived. He was a past member of the Ida Grove Jaycees. He was also a volunteer fireman, EMT, and Director of the Ambulance Crew while residing in Arthur. Bob was a police reserve officer for Odebolt and Sac County, former Odebolt-Arthur School Board member, youth group leader, and past President of the church council at Faith Lutheran Church. Bob was a 32° Mason in the Alpine Masonic Lodge #471 where he also served for a number of years as Grand Master. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and the Sovereign Military Order Temple of Jerusalem (SMOTJ).

An avid sports fan, Bob particularly enjoyed cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Baltimore Orioles, and Indianapolis Colts. Because of the love that he and Barb had for antiquing, the couple owned and operated The Corner Store in Odebolt for a number of years. Bob also enjoyed chess, playing guitar, and going fishing and shooting. One of the greatest joys in Bob’s life was his children and his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them at their cabin on Black Hawk Lake. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife Barb Daiker of Odebolt; children Brandon (Jessica) Daiker of Dallas, Texas, Candace (Brian) Beery of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Zachary (Deborah) Thompson of Jewell, Iowa, and Catlin (Ryan) Heiken of Des Moines; grandchildren Lucy and Elanor Daiker, Atlas Beery, and Hazel Heiken; brothers David (Linda) Daiker of Eagle, Nebraska, and William Daiker of Minnesota; extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents Walter and Inez Daiker; brother Gary Daiker; and mother-in-law Marjorie Winter.
