Robert C. “Bob” Treiber, the son of Carl and Bernice (Fitzpatrick) Treiber, was born on Nov. 23, 1939, in Danbury. He received his education at Danbury Catholic Schools and graduated with the class of 1957. After high school, Bob went on to trade school to become a mechanic.

In June of 1959, Bob married Judy Bell of Danbury and the couple were blessed with four children: Pat, Becky, Mike and Jory. The couple would later go their separate ways.

Bob worked at Barry Motors in Danbury as a mechanic before relocating his family to Ida Grove, to work for Wunschel’s Chevy Garage in 1963. He began his love of driving truck for Wunschel’s hauling fuel. Bob decided to become an owner/operator truck driver and began hauling grain and livestock for Bob Benningsdorf in Ida Grove. He later went to work hauling for Foreman Trucking and Livestock Express out of Sioux City and Anderson Construction of Mapleton. In 1992, he decided to leave trucking and move back to Danbury where he opened Treiber’s Tap, a small bar and restaurant. After retiring in 2004, he spent his time working for his brother, Tim, on the family farm.

In Bob’s early years, he enjoyed his horses and having the fastest car in town. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, tractor pulling, hunting, and watching the Cubs play. He had a lot of good times going camping and on vacations with his family and friends. He loved tinkering around on the farm with the tractors and equipment or playing a game of euchre whenever he had time.
