OMAHA, NEBRASKA - Steven Edward Miller, 78, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Ida Grove and Holstein, passed away unexpectedly with his sister by his side on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024 at the Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska. Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 at the Holstein United Methodist Church, Holstein. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The Holstein American Legion Post#225 will conduct a military service following the memorial service. Burial will be at a later date.

Steven was born the son of Leslie P. “Pete” and Dorothy (Clay) Miller on Aug. 20, 1946 in Ida Grove. He attended Ida Grove Schools and graduated in 1964.

He participated in 4-H showing hogs and cattle at the Ida County Fair and FFA in school. He was drafted into the United States Army. He served in France, Germany and Vietnam receiving an honorable discharge as Sgt. in the Military Police in 1972. After his service for his country, he worked for farmers, carpentry and over the road trucking. He enjoyed gardening wherever he lived, still the farmer at heart.

Steven married June (Hansen) Loof on April 17, 1991 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. He and his wife, June partnered driving truck for 20 years, driving over the contiguous 48 states. While driving for Covenant Transport, he received a four million miles safety award. He retired in 2014 and lived on an acreage outside Altoona, Iowa. They moved to Omaha after Steven had heart surgery.

Survivors include his wife, June of 33 years, daughter Carmel (Miller) Berglin, son Marvin Miller and son Darwin and wife Sarah Miller of Des Moines, Iowa, and their children Brianna and fiance Ricky Pankey, Zaccary and Gillian Hermann, Ashlynn, Keierra and husband Dosha Mintlow, Bradenn, Larissa, Jaydenn, Garrett, Johanna, Lillian, Averlee, Addalyn and Beckett Miller. Four more grandchildren. Great-grandson Jaxson Mintlow and great-granddaughter Raelynn Miller and two more great-grandchildren. Sister Roberta (Miller) Hansen, Ida Grove. Special step-daughter Laura Roth, Omaha, Nebraska, step-daughter AnnMarie and husband L’Dean Kregel, Champaign, Illinois, and step-son Brian Loof and wife Jennifer, Duluth, Minnesota. Step-grandchildren Barrett and Kiya Loof, Stephanie, Chelsea and Kristie Kregel. Step­ great-granddaughter Hayden Kregel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, brother-in-law Wally Hansen, grandson Carrson Miller, step-son Bert Loof, step-son-in-law Charles Roth, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
