Thomas P. “Tom” Meseck was called home on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023, at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove.
Born on Nov. 4, 1975, in Denison, Tom was one of three children born to Allan H. and Patricia (DeConnick) Meseck. He grew up on a farm by Charter Oak, and graduated from Charter Oak-Ute with the class of 94.’
After graduation, Tom pursued his passion for art at the Art Institute in Omaha, Nebraska, obtaining a certificate in graphic design. Upon returning home, he met the love of his life Katherine “Kathy” Gossage, and the rest was history. The couple shared 28 years together and were blessed with their daughter Savannah.
In 2009, the family relocated to Ida Grove, where Tom was already employed in housekeeping/front desk at the Delux Motel. After 20 plus years with the Motel, in 2020, Tom started a new career with Casey’s in Ida Grove as a bakery attendant and kitchen helper, where he was currently employed.
Tom’s favorite holiday was Halloween, so it came as no surprise that he was an avid Horror movie buff. He enjoyed collecting Horror movie memorabilia along with 80s pop culture. With a profound love of music from a young age, Tom leaned toward country music great, Dolly Parton.
Besides his favorite holiday of Halloween, Tom also looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers with his family, where laughter could often be heard rolling from the rooms where board games and card games were being played. But even with all the wonderful hobbies, collections, and holidays, the most important thing in life to Tom was his daughter Savannah and the love of his life Kathy.
Survivors include wife Kathy Gossage of Ida Grove; daughter Savannah Meseck of Ida Grove; father Allan Meseck of Denison; sister Theresa Meseck-Sanchez of Council Bluffs, Iowa; brother Timothy Meseck of Jefferson, Iowa; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Meseck; maternal and paternal grandparents; uncles Norman Meseck and John DeConnick; aunt Diane Bernes; and brother-in-law Raymond Gossage.
