Leo Duffy

1935 – 2026

Leo Duffy, 91, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026 with his family by his side. Leo was born in a farmhouse near Ida Grove, on June 12, 1935. He graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1952. After spending two years in the army, he graduated in civil engineering from Iowa State in 1958. In 1973, he earned an MBA from Drake University. The majority of his career was spent working on the design and construction of buildings.

Leo and his wife Marilynn were married 66 years. They lived 58 of those years in the Des Moines area before moving to Champlin, Minnesota in 2019 to be closer to family.

Leo is survived by his wife, Marilynn; and daughters, Kay Duffy from Fort Worth, TX and Anne (Steve) Kern from Champlin, MN. Leo was so proud of his grandchildren, Katie Leahy, Tom (Kristen) Leahy, Ellen Leahy, Shannon (Adam) Braun, Erin Kern, Megan Kern and Kelly Kern; and his great grandkids, Finn and Logan Braun.

A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
