I’m getting mixed signals.
Recently, I saw corn starting to turn.
As I write this, I have windows open, and the breeze almost carries a chill.
Yet, construction season seems to still be in full swing.
Case in point, I found myself hauling back the twins to UNI after a summer off from coursework.
Vehicle packed to the gills, gassed up and hitting the road.
September will be an exciting month in the sky. For the first time in several months, there will be a bright planet in the evening to observe. Saturn will rise in the east before it is fully dark and pass through the southern sky during the night. It will be the only bright object in this dark part of the sky, so it should be unmistakable. Saturn’s rings also will make it unmistakable through a telescope. However, the tilt of the rings gradually changes, and currently they are almost edge-on to earth.
Among several issues that Americans report as their highest priorities, a strong economy usually tops the list. That makes complete sense. After all, a strong economy means bigger paychecks, more jobs, and greater opportunities for families, farmers, workers, and businesses in Iowa and nationwide to thrive. Like my fellow Iowans and Americans, a strong economy where businesses can grow, farms can invest, and families can keep more of their hard-earned money is also a top priority for me.
I’ve been struggling with nausea ever since cancer treatment began, which is over a year ago. And I’m sick of it! LOL.
Of course, the docs have given me nausea medication, two different kinds: one that dissolves under my tongue, the other a pill that I swallow. Neither of them worked for me, even when I took both at the same time. Moderation has never been my strong suit.
It’s the time of year when I can go from upper 80s and bright sunshine as I’m walking a few blocks back to the office over to rainy and chilly enough to have me longing for something to throw on to battle the dropping mercury as the sky turns dark.
Along with that, we’ve been working to get various children ready for a new school year.
For a change, the boys are all within a day or so of one another.
This weekend, our three younger kids and I joined my parents down in southeast Iowa for the J40 Farm Crawl in Van Buren County. It featured Amish craftsmanship, both culinary and otherwise, as well as other artists selling their wares.
