The OABCIG girls bowling squad traveled to Remsen on Thursday and were edged out 2,445 to 2,101. OABCIG’s round one scoring came from Kimberly Sholty (319), Jade Wilcox (315), Abby Minor (293), Kendra Baker (240), and Kaylee Monroe (229). Daylyn Wilcox also bowled but her scores weren’t used. OABCIG’s round two Baker games were 140, 127, 165, 114, and 159 for a total of 705. The Falcons averaged a 141 on bakers.
The OABCIG boys basketball squad advanced in the first round of the Western Valley Conference basketball tournament with a convincing win over Lawton-Bronson on Friday night. The Falcons jumped out to an 11-0 lead and finished the first quarter with a 20-6 cushion. OABCIG extended the lead to 34-11 at halftime, and the margin swelled to 52-18 after three quarters. The Falcons coasted to a 64-33 victory from there.
The OABCIG boys basketball squad earned a non-conference win last Tuesday at Manning, but it wasn’t easy. The Wolves of IKM-Manning built a 12-9 lead after one quarter, and took a 19-18 lead into the halftime break. The two teams were tied at 27 after three quarters, but the Falcons took control of the game in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Wolves 19-6 in the final period to take home a 46-33 victory.
The Ridge View girls basketball squad easily dispatched of Ar-We-Va last Monday at Schaller. The Raptors built a 17-6 lead after one quarter, then extended the margin to 36-10 at halftime. The lead swelled to 50-15 after three quarters, and Ridge View coasted to a 57-17 victory.

The OABCIG wrestling squad took part in the annual Herb Irgens wrestling tournament over the weekend in Ida Grove. At 106 pounds, Myles Beck placed fourth and scored 13.5 team points. Beck earned a 7-1 decision in his first match, then followed it up with a 16-0 tech fall in the quarterfinals. Beck lost in the semifinals, but came back with a 7-1 decision in the consolation semifinals to take fourth place.
After a competitive first quarter, the OABCIG girls basketball squad took control of the game and earned a conference victory against Siouxland Christian on Thursday night in Ida Grove. The Falcons led the game 14-11 after one quarter, then stretched the lead to 27-18 at halftime. OABCIG came out after intermission and dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 17-0 in that period to lead 44-18 heading into the fourth quarter. The Falcons finished the game strong to come away with the 30-point victory.
The OABCIG girls basketball squad lost to a talented Westwood team last Tuesday at Sloan. The Falcons played the Rebels tough in the first quarter, trailing only 11-9 after one period. Westwood outscored OABCIG 14-2 in the second quarter, however, to take a 25-11 halftime lead. The Rebels extended the margin to 50-21 after three quarters and coasted to a 76-31 win.
The OABCIG boys basketball team picked up a nice 54-50 win over Cherokee after trailing by as many as nine points in the game. The Falcons got off to a fast start, taking an 8-2 lead early in the game. The Braves battled back, however, and took a 13-12 lead after one quarter. A competitive second quarter ended with Cherokee taking a 23-21 advantage into the halftime break. The Braves extended the lead to 31-22 in the third quarter before OABCIG rallied to cut the lead to 35-33 heading into the final period of play.
The Ridge View wrestling squad took part in the Herb Irgens wrestling tournament in Ida Grove over the weekend. At 106 pounds, Chayse Hansen won by fall over his Southeast Valley opponent and scored three team points. At 138 pounds, Conner Jacobson won by fall over his South Central Calhoun opponent and scored three team points. At 195 pounds, Tanner Edwards placed sixth and scored 13 team points. After receiving a bye, Edwards won by fall in round two.
