On a beautiful October evening, the OABCIG football squad opened the Class 1A playoffs with a bang. The Falcons built a 42-7 halftime lead over the visiting Mustangs of Shenandoah, then cruised to a 49-14 victory.
OABCIG opened the scoring at the 7:30 mark of the first quarter, with a 31-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brysen Kolar to senior wide receiver Ethan Behrendsen. Kelton Ladwig booted the extra point kick, and the Falcons were up 7-0. With two minutes left in the opening period, Kolar connected with Blake Corbin on a two-yard pass play to increase the lead to 14-0.
