Everyone has a history that makes them who they are today. Ida Grove’s is especially interesting, and now it is time to celebrate it. The time has come this summer for Ida Grove Heritage Days, happening June 27-June 30. On the 27th, the celebration kicks off with the 2nd & Main Farmers’ Market, a grill out, a movie in the park, and more to start the Heritage Days celebration.
Holstein held their town festival Kinderfest on June 13-15, which included lots of fun ativities for adults and children. There was a corn hole tournament, a car show, Holstein Chamber golf tournament, inflatables, a parade and more!

With the arrival of Ida Grove's Heritage Days observance, the McNamara-Moore American Legion Post and the SAL Squadron 61 will be sponsoring the fishing contest open to all kids old enough to grab a pole up through age 15.
It doesn’t quite feel like summer until you have that taste of fresh strawberries, or watermelon. You take a stroll down to 2nd & Main one Thursday evening, and hear an uptake in people. Where you find a collection of vendors selling a variety of products from fresh produce to home decor. Then you can walk back home, and not worry about being too cold because of the perfect weather outside, the summer weather.
Pastor Steve Schulz is the new Assistant Director at Mission Central, located on Highway E16 between Mapleton and Schleswig. Pastor Schulz (pronounced Schultz) sat down for a visit recently about a variety of topics, including his last name.
As we begin to delve deeper into this year’s summer reading program, the library has even more surprises to reveal. For the second presenter of the summer, the children were awed by Adam White, a magician at the Ida Grove Library.
I heard the winds come up fast and hard and pounding hail down on my roof the evening of June 15. Pinging of hail hitting the bathroom windows. I was afraid the windows were knocked out but alas, no. Electricity went out. All of Odebolt awoke to fallen branches and trees littering the streets and yards of Odebolt’s home. The people of Odebolt gathered to help clean up the mess the thunderstorm had left on our town.
