The McNamara-Moore Post 61 American Legion, Auxiliary, Legion Riders and the Sons of the American Legion conducted the indoor Memorial Day service at the Skate Palace in Ida Grove on Monday, May 27.
Jan Norris will discuss her concerns with the Summit CO2 carbon capture pipeline proposed for Ida County on June 6 at 7 p.m. at the community room at the Rec Center in Ida Grove. Norris has researched this subject the last several years after she learned her neighbors and her were getting letters telling their purpose of putting this pipeline in their land.
Jodi Peters began teaching in Odebolt in 1989, 35 years in the same district in the same assignment. She has worked with some families for as little as a year and others as long as 10 years. She has worked under seven Superintendents and eight Principals.
Battle Creek Legion Post 364 had the Memorial Day service on Monday, May 27 at 9:30 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery. The OABCIG High School band played and gave a riveting performance. The OABCIG High School Boy’s Choir sang wonderfully as well. Honor to the flags was done and a prayer to start the event as well. Lastly, we heard from speaker Becca Sochnat.
A Memorial Day service was conducted in Galva on Monday, May 27. Following a welcome by Virdene Otto, Commander, the Invocation was presented by Pastor Paul Egger.
Danielle Bennett, naturalist at the Ida County Conservation Center taught about honey bees on May 29. She had help from Jaxon Bogue, a 6-year-old entrepreneur and caretaker for bees. It turns out his family has three hives at home because of Jaxon’s interest in bees and insects.
This year, the OABCIG Community School District took initiative to increase their overall revenue by almost 3%. According to an audit report by Nolte, Cornman & Johnson P.C. the school district saw revenues just under 17 million dollars for FY22, the most recent audit from this company. That amount is a 2.7% increase from the year before.
