The OABCIG boys track and field squad captured third place at their own meet on Thursday night. The Falcons scored 102 team points, just a few points behind co-champions Ridge View and IKM-Manning. Gabe Winterrowd took third place in the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.19 seconds, while Josh Peters took fifth place in a time of 12.38 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, Winterrowd captured fourth place in a time of 24.77 seconds. Winterrowd also placed third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.76 seconds.
The Ridge View girls track and field squad captured first place at the annual Ace Nelson Relays in Denison last Tuesday. The Raptors scored 118.5 team points, compared to second place Lawton-Bronson’s 107 points.
The OABCIG girls track and field squad placed fourth in their own meet on Thursday. The Falcons scored 68 team points, finishing behind Ridge View, Lawton-Bronson, and IKM-Manning.
The Ridge View boys golf squad placed second on Thursday night in Holstein, competing against River Valley, Woodbury Central and Lawton-Bronson. The Raptors shot a team score of 178, just one stroke behind Woodbury Central’s 177. River Valley posted a 192, while Lawton-Bronson finished with a 197.
The Ridge View boys golf team edged Newell-Fonda 170-173 last Tuesday in Holstein. Brady Clausen fired a 41 to win medalist honors for the Raptors. The Ridge View boys all shot well, as Ethan Mason finished right behind Clausen with a 42, followed closely by Aiden Martin with a 43. Levi Albers shot a 44, while Gavin Vohs was close behind with a 45. Cayden Clausen fired a 50 to round out the Ridge View scoring. The Ridge View girls golf team fell to Newell-Fonda 200-235 at Newell. Emma Vohs fired a 51 to earn runner-up honors.
The Ridge View girls track and field squad captured first place in the Russ Kraai Relays at Holstein last Monday. The Raptors scored 128 team points, compared to second place South O’Brien with 105 points and third place Sioux Central with 102 points. Alta-Aurelia scored 90 points, while West Monona tallied 76 points. MMC-RU finished with 42 points.
The OABCIG boys golf squad came up one stroke short of winning their third straight golf meet last Tuesday at Kingsley. The Falcons shot a team score of 174, one stroke behind host school Kingsley-Pierson, who shot a 173. OABCIG was led by Kale Ladwig, who shot a 41, the third best individual score at the meet. Ben Hofmeister fired a 43, followed closely by Axton Miller with a 44. Kane Ladwig and Griffin Diersen shot identical scores of 46, while Jackson Godbersen was right behind them with a 48.
The OABCIG boys and girls track and field squads took part in the Sioux City Relays on Saturday, April 9. In girls action, the team of Miki Nakazawa, Alex Schroeder, Anna Hoffman, and Abby Winterrowd took ninth place in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 55.40 seconds. In the 4x200 meter relay, the team of Winterrowd, Schroeder, Hoffman, and Gwen Jacobson took eighth place with a time of 1:57.73. In the 4x400 meter relay, the team of Winterrowd, Schroeder, Hoffman, and Jillian Schnabel took eighth place with a time of 4:28.87.
The OABCIG boys golf team started the season in fine fashion last Monday, winning a Western Valley Conference Conference golf meet in Ida Grove. The Falcons’ team score was 157, compared to second place Kingsley-Pierson with a 181. OABCIG’s Axton Miller was the medalist with a score of 35, while teammate Kale Ladwig took runner-up honors with a score of 39. Ben Hofmeister fired a 41, while Kane Ladwig was right behind him with a 42. Jackson Godbersen turned in a score of 49, followed by Damon Dausel with a 56.
The Ridge View girls golf team took part in a triangular in Ida Grove last week against OABCIG and Cherokee. The Raptors posted a team score of 259. OABCIG won the match with a score of 235, while Cherokee posted a 245. Emma Vohs of Ridge View took runner-up honors with a score of 53. Avaree Miller of OABCIG was the medalist with a 52. Other scores for the Raptors were Emma Mentzer with a 65, Beth Mentzer with a 67, Kierstin Volkert with a 74, and Addison Voge with an 82.
