The Ridge View girls wrestling squad headed south to Oakland, Iowa on Friday to compete in the Riverside Wrestling Invitational. The Raptors did more than just compete, as they brought home the team title and crowned two individual champions.
Ridge View earned 127 team points to win first place out of 18 squads.
Raptors’ 110-pounder Lauren Siegner pinned all three of her opponents, to capture the individual championship in that division.
The Ridge View wrestling squad hosted a Western Valley Conference meet with Kingsley-Pierson, West Monona-Whiting, and Woodbury Central on Thursday night in Holstein.
The meet was dubbed “Heroes Night” and was sponsored by the Iowa Army National Guard. The following introduction was announced at the start of the meet -
The OABCIG wrestling squad made the trek to Sloan on Thursday, to compete in the Westwood dual tournament. The Falcons bested MVAO/COU 48-18, and fell to Lawton-Bronson 53-24.
In the MVAO/COU matchup, OABCIG got pins from 126-pounder Watson Susie, 190-pounder Bodi Eason, and 215-pounder Carter Schaeding. Ayden Bengford (132 lbs), Jed Wulf (138), Dustin Riessen (150), Caden Spetman (157), and Aaron Ulrich (165) all won by forfeit.
The OABCIG girls basketball squad played host to West Monona on Friday night in Ida Grove. The two teams engaged in a hard-fought first quarter, which ended with the visiting Spartans ahead 14-13.
The second quarter saw more of the same, as the Falcons and Spartans traded buckets. West Monona was able to knock down a three-pointer at the end of the period, taking a 26-23 advantage into the halftime break.
The OABCIG boys basketball team tangled with West Monona on Friday night in Ida Grove, coming out on top by a score of 72-55.
The Falcons got off to a fast start, racing out to a 29-11 lead after the first quarter. The Spartans battled back in the second quarter, outscoring OABCIG 19-14 to cut the lead to 43-30 heading into the halftime break.
The Ridge View boys basketball team traveled to Remsen on Friday night to tangle with the Kingsley-Pierson Panthers. The contest was held in Remsen, as the Kingsley-Pierson school and gym floor was damaged by a water main break.
The Raptors got off to a hot start, taking a 14-5 lead after the first period. Ridge View extended the advantage to 11 points at 27-16 heading into the halftime break.
The Cherokee boys basketball squad made the trek south to Holstein last week, to take on Ridge View in a non-conference clash. The home team Raptors came into the contest with a record of 3-0, while the Braves were sitting at 2-0 on the young season.
Ridge View got off to a fast start, grabbing a quick 8-2 lead in the first quarter. Cherokee closed the gap to four, trailing 15-11 after one quarter of play.
The Ridge View girls basketball team hosted Cherokee last Monday night in Holstein. The visiting Braves came into the contest ranked third in Iowa’s Class 3A.
The Raptors came out determined to give Cherokee a battle, and after a hard-fought first quarter, trailed only by a single point at 14-13.
