The Ridge View boys basketball team traveled to Remsen on Friday night to tangle with the Kingsley-Pierson Panthers. The contest was held in Remsen, as the Kingsley-Pierson school and gym floor was damaged by a water main break.
The Raptors got off to a hot start, taking a 14-5 lead after the first period. Ridge View extended the advantage to 11 points at 27-16 heading into the halftime break.
The Cherokee boys basketball squad made the trek south to Holstein last week, to take on Ridge View in a non-conference clash. The home team Raptors came into the contest with a record of 3-0, while the Braves were sitting at 2-0 on the young season.
Ridge View got off to a fast start, grabbing a quick 8-2 lead in the first quarter. Cherokee closed the gap to four, trailing 15-11 after one quarter of play.
The Ridge View girls basketball team hosted Cherokee last Monday night in Holstein. The visiting Braves came into the contest ranked third in Iowa’s Class 3A.
The Raptors came out determined to give Cherokee a battle, and after a hard-fought first quarter, trailed only by a single point at 14-13.
The OABCIG girls basketball team upped their record to 2-0 last Tuesday evening, as the Falcons topped the visitors from Denison-Schleswig 59-31.
OABCIG led only 8-6 after the first quarter, but found their rhythm in the second quarter, opening up a 28-19 halftime lead. The Falcons came out strong again after halftime, outscoring the Monarchs 14-8 in the third quarter to build a 42-27 cushion heading into the final period of play.
The crowd in Alta got their money’s worth on Thursday night, as Ridge View bested Alta-Aurelia 56-54. Trailing by a point with six seconds remaining, sophomore Jayna Aschinger drained a three-pointer to give the Raptors a two-point lead. The Ridge View defense then kept the Warriors from getting a shot off, as the Raptors celebrated a nail-biting victory.
The OABCIG boys basketball team started their season on a winning note, triumphing over the visiting Denison-Schleswig squad by a score 59-40.
A sluggish first quarter by both teams ended with the Falcons up 7-4. OABCIG picked up the pace in the second quarter, outscoring Denison-Schleswig 17-6 to build a 24-10 halftime lead.

The Raptors got off to a fast start, building a 20-8 lead after one quarter of play. Ridge View put together another strong showing in the second quarter, and headed to the halftime break with a commanding 40-15 advantage.
Coach Dana Wessel and the OABCIG boys bowling squad are ready to rock the pins again this season. The Falcons have some talented returning bowlers in letterwinners Blaise Wilcox, Chase Miesner, Trevor Greder, and Lane Howard.
Coach Wessel mentioned several other bowlers who could contribute on the varsity level this year, including Brody Goettsch, Braeden Green, and Donovin Smith.
Wessel shared his thoughts on what the team can accomplish this season.
