The OABCIG volleyball team hosted Siouxland Christian on Thursday night in Ida Grove. The Falcons cruised to a 3-0 sweep in the match, winning by scores of 25-10, 25-19, and 25-22.
OABCIG was led at the net by Stella Remer and Addisyn Pritchard with eight kills apiece. Jenessa Kolar and Kendra Corbin both had seven kills, while Ellah Byers contributed six. Lia Hansen distributed 16 assists, and Pritchard contributed 14 assists.
The Ridge View and OABCIG volleyball squads put on a real show last week in Correctionville, as they squared off in a triangular hosted by River Valley. The two Western Valley Conference foes found themselves in a real barn-burner, which went the full five games to determine a winner.
The final score was a bit misleading Friday night, as the OABCIG football team gave top-ranked Carroll Kuemper all it could handle for three quarters of their matchup at Carroll. The home team Knights, ranked #1 in Iowa’s Class 2A, scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to secure a 43-22 win in the district opener for both squads.
The Ridge View football team earned an impressive district win on Friday night at Hinton, rallying to defeat the Blackhawks 23-14.
Hinton, the defending district champs, came into the contest fresh off an impressive 14-point win over Tri-Center. Following a scoreless first quarter, the Blackhawks struck first with four minutes until half, on a 16-yard touchdown pass. Hinton took a 7-0 lead into the halftime break.
The OABCIG cross country squad participated in the Chris Smith Invitational, hosted by Sioux Central High School at Sioux Rapids last week.
In girls results, the Falcons’ Addi Lomholt won seventh place with a time of 23:17.52. Olivia Schnabel clocked in at 26:02.07, while Lauren Siegner crossed the finish line with a time of 26:44.51. Camryn Ludwig was close behind with a time of 27:59.54.
