A hotly contested matchup ended with South Central Calhoun pulling away late from OABCIG, in boys basketball action at Rockwell City, on Thursday, Dec. 21. It was the Falcons who had the hot hand early, building a 15-11 lead after the first quarter.
OABCIG and Cherokee squared off in a boys basketball tilt, on Dec. 19 in Ida Grove. The Braves jumped out to a 7-2 lead, only to see the Falcons battle back to within a point at 12-11 after the first quarter. OABCIG would eventually tie the contest at 15-15 in the second quarter.
The Cherokee girls basketball squad, ranked 12th in the state, were too much for the young Falcon squad to handle on Dec. 19, as they came to Ida Grove and earned a 57-point victory.
A fast start propelled the Ridge View girls basketball squad past Manson-Northwest Webster, 54-46, on Dec. 18 in Manson. The Raptors jumped out to an early lead, and doubled up the Cougars 18-9 by the end of the first quarter.
The Manson-Northwest Webster boys basketball squad shot out of the gates like a rocket on Dec. 18, building a 15-2 first quarter lead over Ridge View before the Raptors even knew what hit ‘em.
The Ridge View boys basketball squad traveled to Newell on Dec. 19, to take on the Mustangs of Newell-Fonda. N-F got off to a good start, building a 16-10 lead after the first quarter.
