The OABCIG football squad is hoping for more success on the gridiron this season, but it won’t be easy. The Falcons have jumped back up to Class 2A, after playing in Class 1A last season.
Coach Brian Wilken and the Ridge View football squad hope to build on last season’s success. The Raptors finished 6-3 overall and 4-1 in their district last year, in coach Wilken’s first season at the helm. Ridge View will once again compete in Class 1A District 1, which this season includes West Lyon, Alta-Aurelia, Hinton, Lawton-Bronson and MVAO/COU.
Coach Stacy Pritchard begins her first season as OABCIG head volleyball coach with an enthusiastic group of young players.
The Falcons lost three starters from last year’s squad to graduation, Sierra Jepsen, Josilynn Pritchard, and Liv Schroeder. OABCIG does, however, return a strong core of athletes.
“Stella Remer, Jenessa Kolar, Lia Hansen, Addisyn Pritchard, and Irelyn Wittrock are all returning contributors from last season,” stated coach Pritchard.
Coach Monica Brandhorst and the Ridge View volleyball squad are rarin’ to go again this year. The Raptors, who finished 19-18 overall and 6-3 in the Western Valley Conference last season, return a pair of starters from that team. Middle hitters Claire Wandrey (2nd team all-conference) and Naunika Crum (Honorable mention) are back to lead the Ridge View attack.
“Claire had 101 kills and 62 blocks,” stated coach Brandhorst, “while Naunika had 90 kills and 47 blocks.”
The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA) has released its All-District teams for the 2025 season.
In the Class 2A Northwest District, Ridge View junior Blake Myrtue was selected as a First-Team utility player. Myrtue had a batting average of .500, and was part of the Raptor pitching rotation.
