The OABCIG baseball squad plated a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, to squeeze past Lawton-Bronson 4-3 in conference baseball action at Ida Grove.
The Falcons got on the scoreboard first, taking a 1-0 lead in the third inning. The Eagles responded with two runs in the top of the fourth inning, to reclaim the advantage at 2-1.
Friday the 13th was an unlucky day for the OABCIG baseball team.
The Falcons were in Mapleton to take on MVAO/COU in a conference showdown. The home team Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. OABCIG cut the deficit to 2-1 in the third inning, but MVAO/COU answered with a run of their own, making the score 3-1 after three innings of play.
The OABCIG softball team hosted Siouxland Christian on Wednesday evening in Battle Creek, and picked up a resounding 19-1 victory.
The visiting Eagles actually scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening inning. It was all Falcons after that, however, as the home team plated a dozen runs in the bottom of the first, for a 12-1 advantage. OABCIG scored three times in the second inning, then tacked on four runs in the third to claim a 19-1 win.
The Falcon softball team played one of their finest games of the season on Friday night, in the opening round of the 59th Annual OABCIG softball tournament in Battle Creek.
The OABCIG girls were taking on 13th-ranked Collins-Maxwell, a school near Ames, who came into the contest with a 7-2 record. Following a pair of scoreless innings, the Falcons struck first, grabbing a 2-0 lead in the third inning. The Spartans responded with a run of their own, cutting the lead to 2-1.
The Ridge View baseball squad hosted MVAO/COU in a conference clash at Holstein on Wednesday. The contest was a low-scoring affair for most of the night. The Raptors grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning, a score which held up until the sixth, when the Rams plated a run to tie the game at 1-1.
Ridge View got the ball rolling in the bottom of the sixth, however, scoring six runs to build a 7-1 cushion, which ended up being the final score.
The Ridge View baseball squad got the jump on West Monona and never looked back, rolling to a 12-2 victory at Onawa last week.
The Raptors jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, then tacked on another run in the second to go up 5-0. The Spartans kept fighting, cutting the advantage to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning.
