What seemed like a ho-hum win for the Ridge View softball team on Friday, got a little dicey in the final innings.
The Raptors were in Moville to take on Woodbury Central. Ridge View got on the scoreboard first, taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning. The Raptors added a score in the fourth inning for a 2-0 advantage. In the fifth inning, Ridge View appeared to take control of the contest by plating three runs for a 5-0 cushion.
The Ridge View softball squad made the trek north to Paullina last week, to tangle with South O’Brien.
The home team Wolverines jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning. South O’Brien then scored twice in the second inning, and suddenly the Raptors found themselves down 5-0.
Coach Tyler Johnson and the OABCIG baseball team are looking forward to another summer of swings, steals and slides, as the season gets started right after graduation. Speaking of graduation, the Falcons will have some big shoes to fill from last year’s squad, as Myles Beck, Kelton Ladwig and Trenton Gilbert are all off to greener pastures.
Coach Eric Myrtue and the Ridge View baseball team are excited for another season of smacking hits and striking out opposing players. The Raptors will be without the services of a few athletes from last year’s team, but return a strong core group of ballplayers.
The Ridge View baseball squad stayed undefeated on Wednesday, rolling past Westwood 9-0 in a contest at Holstein.
The Raptors jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning, then doubled the advantage to 6-0 in the second inning. Following a scoreless third frame, Ridge View put the game on ice in the fourth inning with three more runs for a 9-0 win.
On a drizzly Thursday night in Battle Creek, the visitors from East Sac County escaped with a 5-3 win over the home team Falcons.
The Raiders came into the contest unbeaten, and jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after one inning. East Sac tacked on another score in the fourth inning to grab a 4-0 advantage, but OABCIG answered with a run of their own to pull within 4-1.
