The Falcon boys and girls track squads took part in the SBL Warriors Relays on Tuesday in Sergeant Bluff. In boys results, Brysen Kolar finished fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 10 inches. In the discus throw, Kyle Spotts captured fourth place with a toss of 122 feet, 6 inches, while Gavin Remer took eighth place with a throw of 114 feet, 1 inch. Spotts also won third place in the shot put competition with a toss of 42 feet, 4 inches.
The Raptor girls golf squad took part in the Western Valley Conference tournament in Ida Grove last Monday. Ridge View’s team score of 258 was good for sixth place in the eight-team field. The Raptors were led by Beth Mentzer with a 59, followed closely by Emma Mentzer with a 63. Zoey Aschinger fired a 66, while Natalie Madsen and Callie Wendt shot identical scores of 70. Kierstin Volkert was right behind them with a score of 71.
The Raptors boys golf squad hosted the Ridge View Quad tournament on Thursday at Holstein. Ridge View took second place with a team score of 167, bettered only by Kingsley-Pierson with a score of 164. The Raptors defeated Westwood (171) and MVAO-COU (196). Ridge View’s Kellen Clausen won medalist honors by firing a 35. Drew Burk turned in a score of 43, followed closely by Gavin Vohs with a 44. Right behind them was Levi Albers with a 45, while Jackson Struck fired a 48 and Cayden Clausen contributed a 51.
The Raptor boys golf squad captured runner-up honors at the Western Valley Conference in Holstein last Monday. Ridge View’s team score of 162 was second only to OABCIG with a 155. The Raptors were led by Kellen Clausen and Gavin Vohs, who both fired identical scores of 39. They were followed closely by Drew Burk with a 40 and Levi Albers with a 44. Cayden Clausen turned in a score of 49, while Jackson Struck contributed a 54.
The OABCIG girls track and field squad traveled to Woodbine on Tuesday to take part in the annual Rod Smith Invitational track meet. In the 100 meter dash, Kylee O’Brien took 18th place with a time of 16.08 seconds. In the 800 meter run, Whitney Johnson captured 10th place in a time of 3:41.25. Olivia Schnabel won 4th place in the 3,000 meter run, turning in a time of 14:08.92.
The Ridge View girls track team participated in the Rod Smith Invitational at Woodbine on Tuesday. The Raptor gals won the event, scoring 155 points compared to second place Woodbine with 99 points.
The Ridge View boys track and field squad competed at the annual Rod Smith Invitational at Woodbine on Tuesday. The Raptors captured third place at the meet, scoring 93 points. Woodbine won the event with 141 points. The Raptors dominated the 100 meter dash, as Isaac Goettsch won the event with a time of 11.96 seconds. Kade Wright and Austin Pyle took fifth and sixth place, respectively, with times of 12.68 seconds and 13.05 seconds. Caden Biede captured 11th place out of 30 runners with a time of 13.60 seconds.
OABCIG boys make good showing at Audubon track meet The OABCIG boys track team participated in the Audubon Boys Early Bird track meet on Tuesday night. The Falcons dominated the long jump competition, as Beckett DeJean won the event with a leap of 20 feet 10.5 inches. Gabe Winterrowd captured second place with a jump of 20 feet 9.5 inches, and Bodie Hansen took ninth place with a jump of 18 feet 4.5 inches. In the high jump, Brysen Kolar placed fourth with a leap of 5 feet 8 inches. Kyle Spotts took ninth place out of 43 throwers in the shot put competition with a toss of 40 feet 4 inches.
OABCIG head track coach Travis Chizek has about 25 boys and 25 girls out this year. Chizek shared who his top returning athletes are.
“Our top returning boys are Chance Buns in middle distance, Beckett DeJean in sprint and hurdle events, Gabe Winterrowd in the sprints and as a long jumper, Josh Peters as a sprinter, Ethan Behrendsen as a sprinter, Kelton Ladwig as sprinter and hurdler, Treyten Kolar as a hurdler, and Kyle Spotts is our top returning thrower.”
The OABCIG boys and girls track squads took part in the Dordt University indoor track and field meet. In girls results, Abby Winterrowd captured third place out of 44 runners in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.48 seconds. Allie Godbersen finished seventh with a time of 8.65 seconds. In the 1500 meter run, Olivia Schnabel took seventh place with a time of 6:19.10.
