The OABCIG varsity girls tallied 1,870 pins to Pocahontas' 1,307 pins, Monday night in Pocahontas at Family Fun Zone. OABCIG’s round one scoring came from Leah Sholty (282), Lizzy Hoefling (275), Jade Wilcox (264), Abby Minor (243) and Kenzey Davis (227). Kendra Baker also bowled but her scores were not used. OABCIG's round two Baker games were 129, 141, 100, 107 and 102 for a total of 579.
The OABCIG boys bowling squad topped Pocahontas 1993-1441. In round one, Dillon Hanneman was the top bowler for the Falcons with a two-game total of 311. Connor Hoegh rolled a 269, followed closely by Evan Jordan with a 265 and Quinten Wallace with a 263. Blaise Wilcox rolled a 239, while Triston Petersen contributed a 213. In round two, Evan Jordan had the high score with a 199. Hoegh rolled a 130, followed closely by Wilcox with a 124. Hanneman contributed a 107.
After coming close the night before, the OABCIG girls basketball squad picked up their first win of the season with a hard-fought 52-48 victory over East Sac on Saturday afternoon in Ida Grove. The Falcons held a slim 16-14 lead after one quarter, then expanded the margin to 31-26 at halftime. OABCIG scored only three points in the third quarter, as the Raiders fought back to tie the game at 34 heading into the final period.
The Kingsley Pierson boys pulled away late to win a competitive conference clash against Ridge View. The Raptors had pulled to within two points in the fourth quarter, but a couple of timely three pointers and some late free throws allowed the Panthers to escape with the win.
The OABCIG boys basketball team weathered the storm of a fast start by East Sac, and came away with a ten-point victory on Saturday in Ida Grove. It was the Raiders who looked like the better team at the beginning of the game, as they knocked down three-pointers and scored some early inside baskets. East Sac raced out to a 20-8 first quarter lead, and it seemed as if the Falcons might get blown out of the gym. But the OABCIG boys kept their composure and clawed their way back to tie the game at 28 by halftime.
The OABCIG girls basketball squad ran into a tough Ram team on Tuesday night in Mapleton, coming up short 65-41. MVAO-COU got off to a good start and took a 16-7 lead after one quarter. The Falcons battled back to within four points in the second quarter, but the Rams regained momentum and led 28-18 at halftime. A competitive third quarter ended with the Falcons trailing 46-32. The Rams shut the door on any hopes of a Falcon victory in the fourth quarter, however, and prevailed 65-41.
The OABCIG boys basketball squad used a smothering defense to take care of the Rams 59-35 in Mapleton on Tuesday night. The Falcons pressed for much of the game, jumping out to an 11-6 lead after one quarter. OABCIG outscored the Rams 19-10 in the second quarter to build a 30-16 halftime lead. The margin swelled to 48-21 after three quarters before the Falcons cruised to a 59-35 victory.
The OABCIG boys bowling squad came up short against a tough Fort Dodge team on Friday, by a score of 3135-2630. In round one, Ben Hofmeister had the high score with an impressive 230 game. Also breaking the 200-mark was Dillon Hanneman with a 203. Hofmeister also had the high two-game total with a 393, followed closely by Hanneman with a 375. Blaise Wilcox fired a 327, while Evan Jordan rolled a 296. Connor Hoegh contributed a 284, while Triston Petersen rolled a 202.
Trailing by five at the halftime break, the Ridge View girls basketball squad fought their way back to earn a 52-44 win over River Valley at Correctionville on Tuesday. The Wolverines started the game strong, taking a 12-8 lead after one quarter. A competitive second quarter saw River Valley take a 23-18 lead into the halftime break. The Raptors outscored the Wolverines 16-10 in the third quarter to claim a 34-33 lead after three periods of play. Ridge View sealed the deal in the fourth quarter, coming away with a 52-44 victory.
The Ridge View boys dominated the action on Tuesday night in Correctionville, defeating River Valley by 28 points in a 74-46 victory. The Raptors jumped on top of the Raiders early, building a 21-11 lead after one quarter. Ridge View expanded the margin to 36-22 by the halftime break. By the end of the third quarter, the lead had ballooned to 55-35, and the Raptors kept the gas on for the 74-46 victory.
