ARTHUR - Mary Ann (O’Tool) Thies, age 83, of Arthur, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at the UnityPoint Health-Iowa Lutheran Hospital of Des Moines, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at the St. Martin’s Catholic Church of Odebolt, Iowa. Father Joseph Dillinger will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the St. Martin’s Catholic Cemetery of Odebolt, Iowa.
IDA GROVE - Darrell M. Newman, age 81, of Ida Grove, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at Zimmy’s Bar and Grill of Ida Grove. Burial will be at the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein is in charge of the arrangements.
REMSEN - JoAnn Corbin, age 84 of Remsen, Iowa (formerly of Ida Grove, Iowa) passed away on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at the Happy Siesta Health Care Center of Remsen, Iowa.
Per JoAnn’s wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa’s Deeded Body Program (as did her husband, Bill). A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Earl Edward Miller, Son of Aaron “Dude” Miller and Mable Burch Miller. Husband to Alice Spiese Miller, passed away on Nov. 8 in Santa Monica, California. He was 93.

A Funeral Service was held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Rev. Luann Benge officiated. Committal Services with Military Rites followed in the St. Paul Lutheran-Midway Cemetery of rural Battle Creek, Iowa.
